Description of Invention

Approximately 2 billion tonnes, or one-third, of the food produced for human consumption is lost or wasted annually, massking food waste a serious global problem that has a major negative impact on biodiversity, soil degradation, greenhouse gas emissions, and other environmental factors. Malaysia is ranked among the nations that contribute the most to food waste globally, which raises serious concerns. Various efforts have been launched to avoid and reduce food waste to prevent these losses and lessen the effects of food losses and waste on the food chain. As a result, the mobile application UniSaver is being proposed to address the growing problem of food waste on college campuses. By facilitating the sale of surplus food goods at a significantly reduced price, UniSaver provides a useful solution by bringing food merchants and students together. The programme highlights the dual advantages of "Reduce Food Waste, Save Money." UniSaver's main objectives are to promote environmentally friendly consumption habits, assist local enterprises in the community, and increase public awareness of the negative impact that food waste does to the environment. The UniSaver mobile application, to be developed using Flutter, will boast a user-friendly interface, ensuring seamless interactions for both food merchants and university students. This innovative platform fosters a community-driven solution to tackle food waste on universities, therefore creating a more eco-friendly and thoughtful food system.
