Description of Invention
Sitting for much of the day can pose significant health risks. This project developed the Sitting Posture Checker, a user-friendly application to address the prevalent problem of poor sitting posture in today's sedentary lifestyle. This application uses PoseNet and a classification model to provide real-time monitoring and evaluation of the user's sitting posture through the device's camera feed. The real-time posture detection, a pre-trained classification model, an intelligent alert system, and customization options are included in the application. Six phases of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) model was chosen for the development of the application. A survey on 30 participants was conducted to obtain user evaluation on the application's functionality. Most of the respondents opined the application responded well to them when they interacted with the application, the application is responsive to their movements and adjustments when using the application in real-time, and the application was able to detect all their sitting postures accurately after showing different ways of sitting postures. Hence, the Sitting Posture Checker contributes to promoting healthy sitting habits and enhancing well-being in personal and professional environments.
