Facial expression is the key indicator of a person’s state. For drivers, a combination of lip yawning, eyelid levels, and head movements can reveal whether they are fatigued or in a normal state. One major problem on the road is accidents caused by fatigue driving. This study explores the potential of using machine learning to detect fatigue. Machine learning techniques are employed to analyse data and identify signs of fatigue. The study uses Driver Fatigue Dataset (DFD) that consists of two folders categorized as “Drowsy” and “Non-Drowsy”, each containing 1,840 images, totalling 18,400 images. Training and testing using the dataset have improved the system’s accuracy in detecting fatigue. The results demonstrate that this system has the potential to significantly enhance road safety for drivers.
