Description of Invention

The integration of digital technologies into various aspects of modern life underscores the importance of digital competencies, especially in rural communities where access to technology is often limited. This study examines the impact of digital infrastructure, socio-economic barriers, and digital skills on digital competence. Using the European Commission’s DigComp framework, the study focuses on three (3) core areas e.g. information and data literacy, digital content creation, and online safety and security. A qualitative approach is proposed by conducting one-on-one interviews with residents from various demographic groups in Felda Wilayah Jengka. Subsequently, the Thematic Analysis (TA) will be used to identify patterns and themes within the data gathered. The findings of this study are anticipated to be significant by providing insights into the digital divide between urban and rural populations. The results will offer valuable data for informing targeted interventions to improve digital competency and bridge the digital gap. Additionally, the study may contribute to policy development and community-based initiatives aimed at fostering digital inclusion and enhancing cybersecurity awareness in underserved areas.
