Description of Invention

Malaysia is gradually experiencing a demographic shift, evolving into an ageing society where the population aged 60 and above is projected to reach 5.5 million by 2021. The problem arises concerning the economic sustainability of urban farming ventures undertaken by elderly individuals. Exploring how these initiatives foster connections and knowledge-sharing between the elderly and younger generations could reveal additional social and emotional benefits. Purpose of this research is to examine the role of social entrepreneurs (SE) and social innovation (SI) as market-driven mechanisms for promoting the adoption of smart urban farming among the elderly population in Malaysia.
