Arduino Based Syringe Pump for Electrospinning

Description of Invention

Electrospinning method is a promising, fast, and easy method in fabricating nanofibers. However, the typical electrospinning systems used in laboratory usually expensive. In this project, a syringe pump for electrospinning was built using Arduino UNO microcontroller. With RM250, a syringe pump with the ability to dispense 0.05ml, 0.125ml, 0.2ml, 0.25ml and 2.5ml of polymer solution in 15 minutes was built. After that, polyvinyl alcohol fiber was successfully fabricated using this Arduino based syringe pump. This syringe pump has limitation in feed rates, but it is a potential affordable education kit for secondary school in promoting nanotechnology.
