Enhancement of Legal Framework to Combat Cybercrime in the Age of Disruption

Description of Invention

The study reveals that the potential economic loss in Malaysia due to cybercrime incidents can hit a staggering US$12.2 billion a year. Malaysia currently has piece meals of legislation and guidelines. Hence the objectives of this research are to investigate and examine why the current legislation is not effective and to further investigate and examine how cybercrime is handled in other jurisdictions. The findings of this research recommend to introduce a comprehensive new legislation to combat cybercrime efficiently and effectively. This research used quantitative, qualitative analysis and a comparative study with other jurisdictions.
