Vehicular communication has become a crucial area of research, enhancing road safety and traffic management. However, challenges exist that must be addressed for successful implementation. This study aimed to evaluate the performance of the IEEE 802.11p On-Board Units (OBUs) through a comprehensive approach. The microcontroller was configured, and its functionalities were analyzed. A series of tests were conducted to assess data rate, transmission range, and connectivity. Performance evaluation tools like example1609, FieldTest, and iperf were utilized to measure latency, packet error rate, and data throughput accurately. The results of the evaluation demonstrated promising performance of the IEEE 802.11p OBUs in vehicular communication.
