Description of Invention
The research work introduces an immersive VR simulation application, Layangan Warisan to safeguard Malaysia’s traditional Wau heritage. The VR application blends authentic cultural storytelling delivered by non-playable characters with a physics-based kite-aerodynamics model, coupled with constructivist learning principles to provide learners with an outdoor interactive and gamified Wau flying experience within a Malaysian village environment. The project is in collaboration with Jabatan Kebudayaan dan Kesenian Negara and Wau artisans certified by Majlis Pelayang Malaysia to ensure authentic representation of traditional Wau. Layangan Warisan can be easily deployed in rural schools, museums, or tourism venues and is scalable to expand to other traditional games.
