Description of Invention

The impending depletion of IPv4 addresses has left experts worried about the future of networks worldwide, leading to the need for global adoption of IPv6 network infrastructure. Despite its benefits, numerous vulnerabilities arise during the packet fragmentation process. This study proposes a mechanism called the “Dynamic Fragmentation Policy Mechanism" (DFPM), as a solution to these issues. DFPM utilizes a machine learning algorithm to detect and mitigate attacks. The key benefit of this mechanism is that it's implemented at the host, causing minimal changes in terms of network latency and system performance, without a need for a change of network infrastructure.
