Description of Invention

Waste cooking oil (WCO) is an abundant yet under‑utilised resource—Malaysia alone discards more than 700 million litres each year, clogging sewers and releasing methane in landfills. Converting WCO into biodiesel offers a double win: mitigating environmental pollution and cutting greenhouse‑gas emissions by up to 86 % compared with fossil diesel. However, stakeholders—from small fisheries cooperatives to municipal planners—often lack accessible tools to quantify these benefits across the full life cycle. Our project bridges that gap with an open‑access web application that streamlines cradle‑to‑grave Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) for WCO‑derived biofuel used in marine engines. By democratising rigorous sustainability analysis, the toolkit empowers decision‑makers to optimise supply chains, validate policy incentives, and accelerate the transition toward low‑carbon maritime transport.
