Description of Invention
This study investigates the impact of social media usage on the mental health of Malaysian youth, focusing on issues like anxiety and depression. Guided by social cognitive theory and social comparison theory, a cross-sectional survey was conducted among 114 youths aged 15 to 30 in Klang Valley, Malaysia, estimated using GPower software. SPSS is used for data analysis. The research aims to understand how social media affects mental health and to contribute to existing literature. Findings will offer valuable insights for policymakers, educators, and health professionals in addressing negative impacts and promoting healthier social media habits among Malaysian youth.
