IMMERSIVE VR TRAINER FOR INCISION & DRAINAGE PROCEDURE

Description of Invention

The research work introduces an immersive VR trainer application to enable risk-free learning and rehearsal of I&D procedures using Meta Quest 2 head-mounted display. The VR application allows students to familiarize themselves with using surgical instruments, facilitate by a virtual nurse and learn I&D procedure through a step-by-step 3D animated procedural guide within a virtual clinic environment. Multimodal guides in the form of audio, text, and video further reinforce the knowledge, while an embedded assessment module records task completion and sequencing accuracy. The VR application enables safe, accessible, scalable hands-on training in medical schools and expandable to other surgical procedures.
