Description of Invention

Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) such as diabetes, hypertension, and hypercholesterolemia are increasingly affecting the elderly population in Malaysia and Singapore. In Malaysia, 27.7% of the elderly suffer from diabetes, 51.1% from hypertension, and 41.8% from hypercholesterolemia, while Singapore reports similar rising trends. The burden of NCDs leads to higher healthcare utilization and costs. This project proposes the development of an IoT-based healthcare software aimed at improving disease management, enhancing medication adherence, and reducing hospital visits among elderly patients. Lessons from Singapore’s higher adoption of healthcare technology will guide efforts to improve IoT readiness and health outcomes in Malaysia.
